Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon To Resign

POLITICS

Embattled Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon is set to resign from her position on February 4.

As previously reported the official was found guilty of fraudulent misappropriation for using $500 in gift cards designated for needy residents of her city for herself.

She was also set to have a separate trial March 1 on perjury charges after being accused of not reporting gifts from former lover and developer Ron H. Lipscomb.

Dixon filed an Alford plea in court acknowledging that while jurors had enough evidence to find her guilty, she still maintains her innocence.

With the agreement in place, she'll serve up to four years of probation while performing 500 hours of community service and donating $45,000 to charity.

City Council President Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will replace her.
