First impressions are crucial in the music industry and Nicki Minaj‘s choice of “Massive Attack” just wasn’t it…at all.  Outside of the video, people just weren’t rocking with that track in any form or fashion.

Yup…still ain’t it

Speaking with VIBE, the Young Money rapper reacts to the response to her first single for her upcoming debut album, but feels that she had to come in a direction that nobody would have expected.

“It was important for me to do something not everyone thought I was gonna do…People close to me have their preferences, their favorite Nicki thing, and I have to stand up sometimes and block out the noise.”

Sean Garrett, who was featured in the single, defended Minaj’s decision.

“I think it’s a different sound. She wanted to make a statement. She definitely has a different direction for her album and her career than where most people think she wants to go.”

What are your thoughts now on the track since time has passed since its initial release?
