When Mary J. Blige broke the news that she was set to join Howard University’s class of 2014, fans of the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul were ecstatic.

As previously reported confusion erupted however after a Howard rep denied her claims but said they would be happy to help her with “completing the formal process for admission.”

Mary fired back saying that she had the acceptance letter “framed in her living room” and has ordered a rep to clarify the situation.

A rep for Mary J. Blige says the school “expressed interest” in her but she will not attend.

In a statement to US Magaizne , the rep says that Mary’s focusing on her busy tour schedule as well as upcoming sunglass and fragrance line.

“Howard University came to her and expressed interest in having her as a student but she will not be attending. Even if she won’t be matriculating at the Washington, D.C. school, the Grammy winner will look online to see what courses and other options are available. Blige’s autumn schedule is packed with a tour and the launch of both a sunglasses line (Melodies) and a perfume (My Life). “But don’t rule it out at some point! She won’t be giving up her music career.”

The singer was recently awarded an honorary GED from Roosevelt High, her former high school in Yonkers, New York.
