Tyler Perry To Appear On Oprah, Talks Childhood Rape

Famed director Tyler Perry will appear on Oprah Wednesday to give what he calls his “most in depth interview ever.”

Perry will join Winfrey to discuss the abuse he endured growing up as a child, from rape by both male and female relatives to sexual abuse at the hands of a church member.

The actor and playwright has previously discussed his traumatic childhood but took to his Twitter account to say that this account would be much more detailed.

“This Wednesday, October 20th, I will be on The Oprah Show doing the most in depth and revelatory interview I have ever done.”


Perry is said to describe the day he was raped as the day he “died” and will discuss when he contemplated suicide to end his pain.

The Oprah Winfrey shows airs weekdays at 4 p.m.

    Our people can be so ignorant. Who cares if Tyler is gay or not. This man has had a horrible past and Im glad he found his way out and Im thankful to Oprah for allowing him to verbally confess in an open forum. He is truely blessed and to have a friend in Oprah is incredible. Keep your head to the sky Tyler; theres no need to tell you why...you already know.

    I hope this helps to set you free from the pain, embarrasment and anquish. This will at least help others to face the reality of letting others know that it is wrong to ABUSE others!! I hope GOD can forgive the people who hurt you and hope you can move on to be more productive and feel better! Sometimes we are chosen to be an example for others. In what way? I don't know, but if you can at least try an over come this act of taking your privacy to another level and not giving you the opportunity to say YES or NO! I'm hoping more can be done to people who violate anyone PRIVACY! I'm MAD for all the Tyler's especially the ones who can't help themselves!!! MAY YOU HAVE PEACE MY BROTHER!!!
