Steelers' Hines Ward Arrested On DUI Charge In Georgia
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward didn't exactly have a good weekend.
According to reports, the NFL player was arrested early Saturday morning in Georgia on a drunken driving charge.
Ward, a former Super Bowl MVP and current "Dancing With the Stars" champion, was booked into the DeKalb County jail at 3:41 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence, after failing a field sobriety test, and refusing to take a breathalyzer test
He was released on $1,000 bond, (which is nothing when you're making $25 million over four years).
Ward's agent and manager, Atlanta attorney Andrew Ree, released a statement on Saturday afternoon, saying:
"On July 9th Hines Ward was stopped by Dekalb Co. police for suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence.
He cooperated fully with the police and truthfully answered all of their questions.
We are currently in the process of ascertaining all the facts.
From our preliminary investigation we can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving.
However, Hines is deeply saddened by this incident and apologizes to his fans and the Steelers organization for this distraction."
More than likely, Ward will receive a slap on the waist, they'll sweep this whole thing under a rug, and we'll never hear about ot again.
When you're a star, that's usually the routine in situations like this.
Ward's mugshots are on the next pages.
