Shawty Redd Found Not Guilty In Murder Case
Shawty Redd Cleared Of Murder Charge
Shawty Redd can breathe a little easier now and get back to work after he was found not guilty today of murder.
As previously reported, Shawty Redd, real name Demetrius Stewart, had been charged with murder in the death of 35-year-old Damon A. Martin of Detroit on New Year's day 2010.
Redd's attorney Ashutosh Joshi told MTV,
"The defense [in the trial] was clearly self-defense. We argued that Redd's life was threatened both verbally and physically, and this occurred in his home and that he shot this gentleman as a result of that."
The trial started on Monday and Judge Wade Crumbly cleared Stewart on all charges relating to the death of Martin.
The platinum selling producer's numerous hits include Snoop Dogg's "Sexual Eruption" as well as hogging most of the production credit on Young Jezzy's classic Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101.
