Nicki Minaj has been working too hard, and her vocal chords are paying the price. The rapper pulled out of her show at the V Festival in the U.K. over the weekend.
Minaj’s rep revealed that her free show in New York City last Tuesday (Aug. 14) may have led to her vocal issues.
“As a result [of that performance], the [cord] has gotten worse. After her most recent x-ray the doctor advises she rest her voice for a few more days,” her rep told MTV News.
Last week’s show at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom featured guest appearances from the likes of Drake, Cam’ron, and her idol, Foxy Brown.”I never really told Foxy how much she has influenced me and how much she changed my life,” she said of Foxy. “You gotta tell people that when they’re alive to even be able to take the compliment, instead of paying tribute to them when they’re no longer here.”
Minaj scheduled the free performance as a way of making up for refusing to take the stage at Hot 97’s Summer Jam.
Held in Weston Park in Essex, England the two-day V Festival commences Sunday (Aug. 19). No word yet on whether or not she will reschedule the show for the U.K.
