Wired 25: The 25 Greatest Brooklyn Anthems Ever [LISTEN]

2. Beastie Boys – “No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn”| License To Ill

Whoever thought a couple of white boys could create one of the most iconic Brooklyn anthems of all time? Well, it happened. “No Sleep Til’ Brooklyn” wasn’t just a dope song, it was a battle cry. The color lines had been crossed with the Beasties, proving that the only thing that mattered was good music. Rest In Peace, Adam Yauch.

“Brooklyn’s rep for robbing cats was the best kept secret until this track dropped…”

Negatory, BK always had a rep for making cats “Run That”….”Manhattan keeps on making/ Brooklyn keeps on taking it…..”

And the list kinda sucks. First it leaves out the original BK anthem. “Brooklyn’s in the house” by Cut Master DC. Next I can think of at least 3 more songs that capture the spirit of BK way more than most of the songs listed. How about:

-Broken English by Smooth Da Hustla & Trigger Da Gambler
    -Bucktown by Smiff & Wesson
    -Danger by Blahzay Blahzay

    You’re. Not. From. Brooklyn.
