Music’s biggest night will be extra special for Ty Dolla $ign because he’s nominated for a Grammy. The L.A. native, born Tyrone Griffin, earned his stripes in the studio, producing and writing for a host of artists. Coming from a musical family, Ty has been in the game for several years, and while writing and producing  YG’s “Toot It And Boot It,”  garnered him radio play, it was his work with Wiz Khalifa and Snoop  that made the Grammys take notice. When the nominations were announced earlier in the month, the Los Angeles native received a Best Rap Song nod for his work on “Young Wild & Free.”

“It’s like wow, he tells Hip-Hop Wired.  “I went over by the Grammy association office and they opened the little paperwork and saw my name. It’s like we’re really doing music now!”

With his production career doing well, Ty is busy building a name for himself as an artist. Over the last several months, he’s dropped his trippy party anthem “My Cabbanna,” and his Beach House mixtapein addition to all the work he’s done for others.
