Miguel releases some powerful visuals for his latest single “Candle In The Sun” off of his Grammy-nominated sophomore album, Kaleidoscope Dream.

This song always had a “What’s Goin’ On”-like feel to it, and the video mirrors that, as Miguel steps away from the romantic and sensual side to take on more worldly matters. This video which is shot in black and white shows powerful images of people down on their luck, homeless, strung out on drugs, or looking for help from a higher power.

With lyrics like “they say we’re all created equal, that’s what they teach us, but that ain’t how we treat each other,” the California raised-R&B star steps up his lyrical content in a true song of substance.

While the video doesn’t give a happy ending or a plot, it just implores you to “take a look around” at what is going on with images of children with guns, empty school buses, abusive police officers and more.

With a Grammy to his name and a #1 album, it’s hard to argue against Miguel’s case as one of the brightest stars in music right now. Check out the full video for “Candle In The Sun”  down below and cop Kaleidoscope Dream here if you haven’t yet.
