Atlanta rap veteran Killer Mike has been building his own brand since his 2003 debut album Monster. The hefty MC is set to bombard fans with a slew of new releases in the coming year, including a sequel to the critically-acclaimed R.A.P. Music album with collaborator El-P and another album titled The Elegant Elephant.

XXL caught up with Killer Mike today (March 21) for an exclusive interview, discussing the Down South rhyme slinger’s upcoming schedule and updating his I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind series.

“For R.A.P. Music II, me and El are gonna do shrooms, smoke we-d and go back in and do it again” Killer Mike told XXL. “For The Elegant Elephant, that is my Moby D-ck. I’m the captain of a ship on a f-ckin’ boat chasing that whale. I’m supposed to evolve into whatever The Elegant Elephant is going to be, and I can’t honestly tell you the sound, except for it’s going to be musical and it’s going to be big and it’s gonna be soulful.”

Mike promises that R.A.P. Music II  will see a 2014 release and intends to have another installment of the popular I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind  ready as well, which will be the series’ fourth release. “The Pledge series has always been about setting goals; it’s been about dope music, but they’ve become almost like research papers with thesis statements,” he added.

Killer Mike ripped the stage on the Late Show With David Letterman this past Monday (March 18) night with El-P, and will be joining former Purple Ribbon compatriot Big Boi on tour this spring.
