Ice Cube Says His Son Will Play Him In N.W.A Biopic [Video]

The upcoming N.W.A biopic has just gotten a leading role and one of the founding members has decided to keep it in the family.

During the Los Angeles premiere for 22 Jump Street, Ice Cube confirmed with Entertainment Tonight’s Rocsi Diaz that his son, O’Shea Jackson, Jr. will walk in his father’s footsteps and portray him in the film, titled Straight Outta Compton.

“He was born to play the role. He was born to play that part,” said Cube. Despite the obvious hints at nepotism however, Cube assured the former 106 & Park host that the look was earned and not given.

“We don’t give out no freebies,” he continued. “He had to earn it, no doubt. He went the whole mile. Screen tests and everything. When Universal looked up, he was the best man for the job. He did everything we asked him to do and I’m so proud.”

The film, set to be released in the 2015, will chronicle the storied careers of Cube, Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella as they became one of the first Hip-Hop acts to garner national attention on a global scale. They even received a cease-and-desist from the FBI in 1988. Cube and Ren recently reunited on the track “Rebel Music (Remix)” earlier this week.

Jackson, Jr. has guest starred alongside his father on several of his albums under the stage name OMG.
