Phonte & 9th Wonder To Be Honored At NCCU’s 40 Under 40 Gala
Two-thirds’ of the Hip-Hop group Little Brother are all set to recognized for their contributions to the culture at North Carolina Central University’s second annual Forty Under Forty Awards Gala.
Foreign Exchange frontman Phonte Coleman and Grammy Award-winning producer/record label executive Patrick “9th Wonder” Douthit will be honored amongst other distinguished African-American alumni of the university. This year’s list is compiled of entrepreneurs, savvy business owners, educators and doctors, among other fields of expertise.
In a press release, Harriet Frink Davis, Ph.D., vice-chancellor for Institutional Advancement, spoke highly of the university’s alumni and their mark on society. “NCCU alumni are doing amazing work in virtually every field, but these 40 are special because they have achieved so much so early,” she said. “This celebration recognizes their hard work and dedication as well as their outstanding accomplishments, which will inspire NCCU students and graduates for years to come.”
The Forty Under Forty Awards Gala will be held on September 12 at Durham’s Sheraton Imperial Hotel at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
