Gloria Carter, the mother of Shawn “Jay Z” Carter and co-founder of the Shawn Carter Foundation, has teamed up with eBay for Charity to launch an auction of celebrity-signed memorabilia and other exclusives. The proceeds from the auction go towards the non-profit, which aids students in going forward with their career choices beyond high school.
The auctions kicked off earlier this morning, giving fans chances to bid on items from Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, CC Sabathia, and Andre Ward among others. Ms. Carter issued a written and video statement explaining this new venture and how the Shawn Carter Foundation is involved.
“I have always taught my kids the importance of working hard for what you want. I’ve made it my mission to empower youth by giving them access to higher education,” said Ms. Carter. “With graduation season upon us, I’m thrilled to partner with eBay for Charity for a special auction to raise funds for students in need. The auction includes wonderful items and experiences generously donated by our supporters. There’s plenty to bid on and best of all, 100% of proceeds will go to the Shawn Carter Foundation, so know you’ll be helping to give young people facing hardships the tools they need to pursue their education and dreams.”
Donations to enter the auction start as low as $10 dollars up to $100 dollars. Participants will be automatically entered to win a VIP Day at Roc Nation’s headquarters, including meeting with the Roc executives, a dinner for two at The 40/40 Club and other treats.
