Aretha Franklin Wants Halle Berry To Portray Her In Biopic
The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin wants actress Halle Berry to portray a younger version of her in an upcoming biopic.
Franklin, who is 68 and just underwent surgery for cancer, sent out a press release stating that she wanted Halle to show the world a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
She also wants Denzel Washington to play her father, the late Rev C.L. Franklin who was also prominent in the Civil Rights Movement.
Aretha sure knows how to go after Academy Award winners and she also wants Terrance Howard to play Smokey Robinson in the film.
The movie will be based on her best selling autobiography “Aretha: From These Roots,” and she’ll begin reviewing scripts next week.
The Queen of Soul also stated in the press release that the actors are “enthusiastic about the project and have agreed to take on these roles, subject to further negotiation.”
