Jamaican reggae artist, Major Mackerel, is recovering from injuries sustained after being slashed with a samurai sword. The 41-year-old, real name Garfield Dixon, was taken to the hospital after getting into an altercation with a Brooklyn man for making “inappropriate” comments at his wife. When police arrived on the scene they found 37-year-old, Oscar Joseph holding a bloody two-foot long sword.
Joseph is being charged with assault with intent to cause a serious injury, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon. Mackerel was taken to the hospital with lacerations on his head, arm and hand.
Mackerel left the hospital with bandages around his head, wrist and elbow. When asked about the incident, he told the New York Daily News not to worry saying,
“I don’t feel bad, these things happen. It’s a Jamaican thing.”
A Jamaican thing? Thank god, I’m not Jamaican.
