It was sad news when we learned this morning that Don Cornelius had passed away from an apparently self inflicted gunshot wound. Since his indelible creation, ‘Soul Train,’ offered the best of R&B and Soul music, it was natural for the Hip-Hop audience to be some of the seminal show’s biggest fans. Eventually, Hip-Hop artists managed to grace the stage, and occassionally face some playful grilling from Cornelius. Here are some of the greatest rap performances, that we could find, from artist like Kurtis Blow to Eric B. & Rakim to the late Heavy D, on ‘Soul Train.’ Rest In Power Don Cornelius.
