The Internets were on fire after actress Stacey Dash publicly endorsed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney via Twitter this past Sunday (October 7). Enduring a barrage of criticism – with some ugly verbal attacks thrown in – via tweets and bloggers across all racial and political lines, the Clueless star has decided to speak out and stand her ground against those who question her views. Dash appeared Tuesday night on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” program, and expressed dismay at the criticism in her support of Romney. “Well, you know, people are going to have their own opinion. And that’s the point, we’re all entitled to our opinion,” said Dash regarding the brouhaha. “And I used my platform to exercise my First Amendment right as an American citizen to say who I’m going to vote for.”

Piers Morgan then inquired why Dash, a former Obama supporter, has decided to cross the aisle and vote for Romney. “Because of the state of the country and I want the next four years to be different,” said the 46-year-old beauty. “And I believe him. I’ve watched him for a while and when I watched the governor and his wife on ‘Meet The Press,’ they spoke to me. They seemed authentic and genuine in what they said about this country.”

Stacey Dash expressed disappointment at the vicious barbs thrown her way, prompting Morgan to ask if the insults came because of she being a famous Black actress. “I really don’t understand the fury. I don’t understand, I don’t get it,” said Dash. “[I was] saddened and shocked, really shocked. But, you know, you can’t get everyone to agree with you.”

Do you think Stacey Dash was out of line for endorsing Mitt Romney? Are Dash’s critics equally in the wrong for their negative responses? Sound off in the comments!
