Last night, protesters descended on New York City’s Union Square for the Million Hoodie March in support of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old murdered in Florida last month. Martin’s parents were in attendance with participants chanting, “Justice for Trayvon!,” reports the New York Daily News.

The purpose the protest was to demand the arrest of George Zimmerman, the local Neighborhood Watch member who shot the unarmed Martin after following him, despite authorities instructing him not to. There is growing pressure for Bill Lee, the Police Chief of Sanford, FL where Martin was murdered, to resign. Lee seems to have tried his best to sweep this story under the rug, as Zimmerman has yet to be charged with any crime. Real Talk NY’s Nigel D attended the protest and took photos (in the gallery below) of the overall peaceful event.
