Let’s commemorate the end of a long work week with good music, people. And by that, we’re saying listen to The Wrap Up: Hip-Hop Wired’s Top 10 Songs Of The Week, a list that compiles the audio you may have missed over the last seven days.

A mixture of new, unheard, and underrated talent flourished this time around. There’s a also a few songs that aren’t necessarily Hip-Hop we found equally deserving of a feature spot.

A couple of Virginians dropped some of our favorite tunes, while Chicago’s Save Money clique also showed and proved that they’ll be around for a bit on a pair of releases.

Lend an ear to our selections on the following pages. Enjoy!

Salaam Remi ft. Corinne Bailey Rae – “Makin’ It Hard For Me”

This smooth cut isn’t exactly Hip-Hop, but the British songstress’ vocals pair well with the boom-bap drums on this melodic cut.

Guilty Simpson & Small Professor ft. Boldy James & Statik Selektah – “I’m The City”

This is that straight gritty, jux music. Also, Detroit has true MCs if you didn’t know.

Nickelus F – “Slave Ghost Traditions”

This Richmond, VA. wordsmith has been killing it for weeks on end. To say that his Yellow Gold 2 project is highly anticipated around these parts would be an understatement.

James Blake ft. Chance The Rapper – “Life Round Here (Remix)”

The Chicago rapper improved this somber tune with some new melodies and a potent verse.

Stalley ft. Rashad – “Sticks And Stones

We think this is the better of the two tracks included on the MMG rapper’s repackaged Honest Cowboy EP. But then again, it’s like apples and oranges. Both are good, but one is a preference.

Isaiah Rashad – “I Shot You Down”

TDE just announced that this 21-year-old MC has signed with the clique. See above to understand their reasoning.

Jhene Aiko ft. Childish Gambino – “Bed Peace”

These two have been looking rather chummy lately, and this chemistry can be heard on this melodic cut.

Justin Timberlake – “T.K.O.”

The verdict is still out on J.T.’s latest release, but we’ll go on a limb to say that this is another hit in the making.

Vic Mensa ft. Eliza Doolittle – “YNSP”

The Save Money rapper is one of the best things coming out of Chi-Town. This isn’t up for debate.

Pusha T ft. Kendrick Lamar – “Nosetalgia”

This is audible filth in the best way possible. The duo keep the crack references potent sans the actual baking soda, pyrex, and a stove.
