Friday is here, as is the joy and happiness that comes with it. But before you go practicing your vices, lend your ears to the best our music had to offer via The Wrap Up: Hip-Hop Wired’s Top 10 Songs Of The Week.
We like to think that rappers consider their craft to be a labor of love, but over the last seven days, we saw cupid’s arrow strike many a track. Credit that to Valentine’s Day. No complaints on our side, though.
This batch of music comes courtesy of artists from across the map. New Yorkers will be happy to see their city show and prove, as will folks from the midwest. The Internets were also blessed with a record from a promising newcomer hailing from Philadelphia that you’ll be hearing about soon enough.
Hear it all via The Wrap Up below.

10. Reek – “Singing The Blues”
Philadelphia’s own Reek wasn’t feeling too lovey dovey this Valentine’s Day. If you’re sentiments are the same, this one is for you.
9. Wiz Khalifa – “We Dem Boyz”
The chorus on this record sounds a lot like a G.B.E. byproduct, but it still rides.
8. Fashawn – “Ladies”
Fresno’s finest had a message for the ladies on this cut, which samples Lee Daniels and The Expressions’ song of the same title.
7. Vado ft. Chinx – “Hay Now”
We like what we’re seeing from New York City rappers right now. See above for our reasoning.
6. CyHI The Prynce – “Coretta”
You see the consistency in theme this week? Love is in the air, and the Prynce also happens to be the king of all he surveys. See how “Corretta” makes sense now?
5. Vic Mensa – “When A Fire Starts To Burn (Freestyle)”
Few rappers have the flow to rhyme over Disclosure’s club jam. Mensa managed to do his thing pretty well on this one.
4. The Game ft. Problem, Huddy & Bad Lucc – “THOT”
Prejudice kicked up when we first laid eyes on the tracks title. That all ended the moment we pressed play, though.
3. Fly Union – “Right Here”
We’ve been awaiting new material from the Ohio collective, and they didn’t disappoint with this one. We hear they have a project called Small Victories on the horizon.
2. Joey Bada$$ – “Pantie Raid Pt. II”
The Brooklyn native recalls a few stories about skirt chasing on this mellow tune. He does it well, too.
1. Common ft. Ab-Soul – “Black America” (Prod. By No I.D.)
Common Sense imparted wisdom alongside TDE’s Black Lipped Bastard over a beat by Dion. What more can you ask for?
