While Schoolboy Q hasn’t had a good last couple of days, this seems to be Ab-Soul‘s week. With his much delayed album These Days… finally released, he made it a point to stop by The Breakfast Club during his New York promotional run. In attendance was his model girlfriend Yaris Sanchez.
As Top Dawg Entertainment continues their dominance in Rap, Ab-Soul definitely has proven his position within the crew. In turn he spoke confidently about the music, the hustle, his label mates and more.
But with the very lovely Yaris Sanchez sitting next to him, DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God couldn’t let her go quietly so naturally they positioned the Q&A to a more personal side.
So we present the top 8 things we learned from The Breakfast Club Ab-Soul interview. Hearing how Sanchez hollered at Ab first was pretty interesting to us. Let us know what your favorite moment was in the commons section below.

Release Date
Ab explained going to Twitter last year to complain about the slowness of T.D.E. putting out These Days…. He said that it had been a two year lapse from his last album and he didn’t want the public to think he was not on his job.
O.G.’s?
Ab also admitted that his elders would threaten him with “D.P.” if he got out of line. In his area that stands for discipline, in the porn industry that stands for double penetration.
Yaris
Ironically Yaris direct messaged Ab-Soul first and then they met at one of his shows.
Afflicted
Ab suffers from a very rare disorder called Steven Johnson syndrome where he suffers from internal and external fevers. The disease also impacts his sight so he needs to wear sunglasses at all time to protect his vision.
Black Planet
Surprisingly Soul and his friends sharpened their writing skills by rapping on BlackPlanet.com. “That’s where people went to hook up, but we were up there rapping, seriously. Typing. I know it still goes on to this day. It was so crazy. N*ggas use different HTMLs and colors with their sh*t. Fonts, italics with the words you rhyming with. It was so tight. That’s where I honed my skills, for sure.”
Q
When asked about the recent shooting at a Schoolboy Q concert, Ab was saddened to hear it happened and he speculates it was an unfortunate case wrong time wrong place.
Preggers?
Yaris also cleared up that she is not pregnant.
The Name
His real name is Herbert. So when he started rapping he took his cousin’s name of Snappy G. After that he took the name Precise. Considering another name he looked up the synonym for precise and he came to absolute. He couldn’t copyright the name so he went with Ab-Soul which means “from the soul”.
Ménage
And if you didn’t think Ab-Soul could get any luckier, Yaris admitted to bringing other women to the bedroom for Ab. #Winning.
