Nas and Hennessy continue their beautiful business agreement with the release of a new commercial that fully realizes the vision that the legendary rhymer’s debut album, Illmatic set out to accomplish.

On a crowded subway in New York City, Nas is seen using his deepest, innermost thoughts to narrate his vibrant surroundings. His words are calculated carefully; poignant and poetic. It is almost as if he wrote a Hip-Hop quotable just to shoot the 60-minute clip.

In all actuality he did, just 20 years prior. The narration is spoken word rendition of Illmatic’s opener, “N.Y. State of Mind,” with the Joe Chambers unforgettable “Mind Rain” sample manicured to perfection, sort of like Hennessy V.S’s trusted formula.
