High stakes poker with high level ballers, the humbling of standardized tests, and keeping it real when dating cover some key themes in this week’s Survivor’s Remorse Season 2 Ep. 9 Recap: GUTS!

No Guts No Glory

Jimmy Flaherty invites Reggie to his house for a game of Guts. This is more than just your normal poker game amongst friends. The buy-in to play is $100K and A-List competitors will be in attendance. Reggie agrees to go and during their routine family breakfast (now including Chen), they discuss the risks. Chen has played Guts with much higher stakes and cautions Reggie on the pitfalls of betting high and being afraid to bet.

The Wonders Of Standardized Testing

Reggie wants Jupiter to prepare for the Wonderlic test prior to the NFL draft. Since NFL teams rate the results as one factor in a player’s aptitude to play football and grasp concepts, a high score would be beneficial for Jupiter. Missy volunteers to tutor Jupiter, as she could get him up to speed. Uncle Julius proctors a practice exam that Jupiter and Missy take. After the first exam, Jupiter destroys Missy in scoring, attaining a 9/15 (comparable to Eli Manning) to Missy’s 4 (akin to a Janitor or Night Watchman). Missy couldn’t believe Jupiter got a higher score. He revealed the secret to his advanced comprehension: converting all word problems in units of pills. Missy’s tries this theory and in the next round, she gets a 5/15 to Jupiter’s 10/15! The devils of standardized testing make Missy feel less intelligent, but it looks as if Jupiter is ready to ace the Wonderlic.

Too Real Too Early?

Cam has a big date with Allison, and wants to tell her about his HPV scare. Reggie and M-Chuck advise against it, arguing that it’s too early in their courtship for Cam to reveal the potential for a commonly contracted STD. Chen and Cassie discuss how knowing everything about someone early on can benefit the relationship. Julius agrees that you don’t truly love someone until you can smell their farts!

Cam wants it on the table, because he’d rather know sooner than later if Allison would want to stop dating him. Allison was the only one around at the moment he injured his knee, and Cam wants to return that dedication.

During their dinner, Cam reveals his HPV status to Allison. While Allison wasn’t thrilled, she admits that Cam’s honesty makes him someone that she could potentially love. It looks like they have a bright future ahead of them!

Big Chips

Reggie arrives at Flaherty’s house, and is greeted by Chen. Cassie wanted Chen to attend with Reggie in order to protect him from losing all of his money. Reggie refuses his help, as he doesn’t want to cheat to win. The game is A-List including Tom Werner and LeBron James. The game becomes a platform for these rich men to discuss life, love and the types of briefs they wear (??). Tom Werner is the head honcho here as he always wins, even winning courtside seats from Michael Jordan once. On the final hand, Reggie down to his last chip, pulls out an unexpected win raking in over $1M! He played it cool, but nerves later surfaced when he vomited outside the house.

More money, more problems, and more laughter is in store for next week’s season finale!
