After a few days of silence, the National Rifle Association has offered its condolences to the shooting victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School last week.
The NRA is known to cause controversy over its stance on the right to bear arms, but like many around the globe, they were struck by the heinous crime that killed 20 innocent children, and seven adults.

The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.
Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before investigation of the facts before commenting.
The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.
The organization plans to hold a press conference at the end of the week, potentially to fend off more blame from gun control advocates who have called on President Obama to inflict stricter laws on firearms.
Oddly enough, since the shooting gun sales in the country have spiked. According to the FBI, more background checks were submitted the day after the shooting, than in any single day in history.
“After the president’s speech, it scared a lot of people,” said gun retailer, Chuck Lawson. Obama headed to Newtown, Sunday (Dec. 16) calling on the nation to take better care of its children. “They are wanting to get a hold of just about anything before it’s banned.”
At a press conference held earlier today, Obama announced that a task force headed by Vice President Joe Biden would be formed aimed at ending the mass shooting epidemic. “The fact that this problem is complex can no longer be an excuse for doing nothing,” he said. “The fact that we can’t prevent every act of violence doesn’t mean that we can’t steadily reduce the violence and prevent the very worst violence.”
Many of the funerals for the shooting victims have been planned, the first of which took place Monday.
