Roscoe Dash is retiring…but just from singing (and possibly writing) hooks. Dash tweeted the news to his more than 300,000 followers earlier today.
While he didn’t offer an explanation behind the decision, it may have something to do with being fed up with the music game all together. After appearing on XXL magazine’s Freshman cover a few years back, and sustaining a major hit by way of “All Da Way Turnt Up,” the tide changed thanks to Wale’s “Lotus Flower Bomb.”
Dash claimed that he wrote the single, but never received credit. He took his emotions to Twitter, writing in part that he “can’t do favors for ni**as because no matter how humble and generous [you are] to people ni**as will take everything.”
The rant elicited a response from Miguel, who sings the hook on “Lotus Flower Bomb.” According to the L.A. native Wale and another person wrote the brunt of the song, before he added his own lyrics. He also called the whole idea of having to explain himself “retarded,” which may have upset Dash.
Provided that this isn’t just a publicity stunt, it’s the end of Roscoe Dash as we know it.
