The 46th annual West Indian Day parade went down yesterday (Sept. 2) along Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn and as usual it was a festive occasion. Beautiful people, flags and floats were seen everywhere, along with NYC Mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner giving shout outs to Caribbean islands.
With a such a mass of people partying in the streets, plenty of politicians were in attendance to basically beg for votes. Reports the New York Daily News:
New York City politicians danced like their lives depended on it Monday during a wet and wild West Indian Day Parade, one of the last major events before next week’s Sept. 10 primaries.
Stifling humidity and late-afternoon rains didn’t prevent the revelers or mayoral candidates from strutting their stuff — and in one case, a fake accent — during the 46th annual celebration of Caribbean culture along Brooklyn’s Eastern Parkway.
“Anybody here from Jamaica? Anybody here from Barbados? Anybody here from Guyana?” Anthony Weiner called out in an imitation Caribbean accent, but then gave up.
This guy.
Check out video of Weiner’s dancehall DJ struggle below; but more importantly check out images of the parade and its colorfully dressed participants in the gallery.
