New developments have occurred in the case of Louisiana pastor Ronald J. Harris Sr., who was killed by Woodrow Karey as he was delivering a sermon last week. Authorities have begun unleashing details of the case, which reveals Karey’s wife filed a rape complaint against the preacher after her husband discovered texts between the pair.

KPLC TV reported on the quickly developing case, and it appears that Karey’s wife and Harris, the pastor for the Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center in Lake Charles, had a secret affair. According to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso, Karey confronted his wife about the texts and images he found thus leading to her filing the complaint.

From KPLC TV:

“Mr. Karey stated that he had received some inappropriate text messages from his wife to the pastor,” Mancuso said.

Mancuso said their investigation has revealed allegations of a s-xual relationship between Harris and Woodrow Karey Jr.’s wife, but he couldn’t say whether the relationship was consensual.

Karey, 53, of Lake Charles, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the case. He is being held in the Calcasieu Correctional Center on $1 million bond.

Sheriff Mancuso further added that according to his team’s understanding, Karey and Harris were said to be friends. The authorities have already seized some of the text messages and will obtain a search warrant to speed along the investigation.

Mancuso was clear to note that Karey’s wife didn’t file charges against Harris until she was confronted by her husband.
