Trends come and trends go in Hip-Hop. But allow us to revisit one of the more popular (and costly) things once coveted by every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the game: sports jerseys.
Sure, noteworthy spitters of today like Wale and others have sported and created some athletic parephernalia recently, but this time 10 or so years ago, rocking a player’s number on your back was commonplace for your favorite MCs.
Of course, Fabolous will immediately come to mind, as his jersey game was as recognizable as his punchlines once upon a time. Then there was the Roc-A-Fell camp, who properly represented the culture with the freshest flavors Mitchell & Ness had to offer quite often.
Expect each party to appear a time or two, and a host of others, on this list dedicated to the 10 best sports jersey moments in rap videos.

Beanie Sigel ft. Freeway – “Roc Da Mic”
Since this was the first time Hip-Hop fans saw State Property as a whole, the crew thought it was appropriate to show out with some of the illest jerseys of the time. We approve.
Jermaine Dupri – “Welcome To Atlanta (Coast 2 Coast Remix)”
J.D. and company gave us an array of sportswear to display their hometown pride.
Clipse – “Grindin”
According to Pusha T, “Only big boys keep deuces on the ride.” The same apparently goes for the highly sought after Virginia Squires jersey.
Lil Wayne ft. Big Tymers & TQ – “Way Of Life”
Back when Weezy’s dreadlocks were in an infantile stage, Birdman was Baby, and Mannie Fresh was still active in Cash Money, jerseys were the thing. Damn.
Fabolous feat. Nate Dogg – “Can’t Deny It”
Truthfully, no one did it like Loso. No a damn soul.
Jay Z – “Girls, Girls, Girls”
Hov only gave us two pieces, but they were so exclusive that they deserve a nod.
Cam’Ron ft. Juelz Santana – “Hey Ma”
Dipset moved as a unit all the way down to their accoutrements. But we already knew that, though.
Master P. ft. Silk The Shocker, Mia X., & Mystikal – “Make Em Say Uhh”
No, the No Limit collective didn’t sport a single NBA, MLB, NFL, or NHL regulated jersey. But you have to admit that their alternative choice was mean.
Fabolous ft. P. Diddy & Jagged Edge – “Trade It All”
Everyone was garbed in the best jerseys at the time in this memorable treatment. Loso still reigned supreme.
G. Dep ft. P. Diddy & Black Rob – “Let’s Get It”
We’d love to see an infographic showing how well Charles Woodson jerseys sold before and after this video released.
