Ah, here goes a breath of fresh air courtesy of Slaughterhouse. Three of the core four — Royce Da 5’9”, Joell Ortiz, and Joe Budden — united in rhyme on “Party.”
This isn’t exactly a song for the clubs, though. Boom-bap drums echo throughout a beat produced by Just Blaze and Cardiak, as the MCs explain exactly why the don’t party like their peers. This may be a shock to some, because Hip-Hop has 0ver-sensationalized the importance of “turning up” and all that comes with doing so in recent years.
There’s a great chance age affected the Shady Records crew’s decision to pen this track. With Royce leading the effort, it’s clear that Slaughterhouse has been in the back snickering at the trends some think are cool. In other words, they look down on the influx of leather clothing, guys who believe “it ain’t tricking if you got it,” and pretty much anything questionable you’d imagine.
Just Blaze executive produced Slaughterhouse’s Glasshouse, which releases some time next year. The clique announced a namesake tour as well that also kicks off in 2014. Hear the cut below and see the tour dates on the following pages.
