NBA Commissioner David Stern is set to retire in February and the league’s fashion designers have already began to scheme of ways they can draw up attention.
Those “schemers” would be adidas and today, January 16, they introduced their hair-brained plot to create the 2014 NBA All-Star Jerseys as if to replicate a soccer jersey, complete with short-sleeves and “NOLA” stitches on the cuff.
This year’s contest is being held in New Orleans so it’s an obvious nod to the city.
Via ESPN:
The uniform designs for this season’s All-Star Game, set for Feb. 16 in New Orleans, leaked on the Internet on Thursday before being officially unveiled by the league later in the day.
And in a development that probably won’t surprise many fans, the uniforms feature sleeves.
The East and West designs both feature a large Fleur-de-lis on the chest and uniform numbers on the left sleeve — a format similar to the “Big Logo” jerseys that 10 teams wore in Christmas Day games. The East version is blue with greenish-teal trim, while the West version is red with purple trim.
If the people of Twitter had a say-so, then an emergency tailor meeting should be in order.
Check the gallery to see all the pics of the new jerseys which seem to have a universal rating of “ugly” per a few reactions from Twitter.
