Joey Bada$$ Threatens To Release New Album On YouTube: ‘F*ck Columbia Records’

You’d think that after the momentum Joey Bada$$ gained earlier this year by putting all of New York on his back while battling damn near the entire West Coast that his label would be in a rush to get out his next project.
Well, you’d be wrong. According to the Brooklyn MC and actor, not only is Columbia not looking to get out his project, but the expected date has been pushed back and Joey Bada$$ is tired of the politricks.
Joey took to Instagram to tell fans that were expecting his new album this Friday, Aug. 1, that the release is being pushed back. He noted that the album has been turned over to Columbia Records over a month agao and that the label didn’t even offer an explanation as to why they aren’t releasing his new music.
“My sh*t got pushed back because the label pushed my sh*t back,” Joey said. “My album is signed, sealed, and delivered over a month ago. This ain’t ‘cause of no sample clearances. This ain’t ‘cause of no features. This ain’t ‘cause of no clashing with another artist on the date. This is literally an Exhibit A of the label getting in the artist’s way.”
Joey noted that he’s been releasing music on YouTube because of issues with his label.
“I’m signed to Columbia records but for the longest time I just ain’t been f*cking with them,” he said, Tuesday. “All they do is get in my way. They really don’t f*cking contribute to nothing, especially this year. I’m not sure if y’all know this but all of my releases have been on YouTube. And it’s been that way because I ain’t got time to wait on nobody, bro. I’m way too f*cking independent-minded and self-sufficient to sit around and wait for people who is not getting in line with the vision. I refuse to do it.”
“These m*therf*ckers got ’til Monday to straighten up,” Joey said, adding: “F*ck Columbia Records.” “I’m giving them until Monday. That’s me being generous. Columbia Records, y’all got ’til Monday to straighten up.”
And if things didn’t work out, Joey threatened to release the entire album on YouTube.
