During a weekend stint in Washington D.C. over the weekend, Nas invaded the KC Cafe at the Kennedy Center on Saturday (March 29) after lavishly performing his 1994 debut LP, Illmatic, backed by the National Symphony Orchestra. But the party wasn’t quite over, as the legendary MC celebrated the 20th anniversary of the classic album at a Hennessy V.S cast party.
Nas, who was draped in a swanky black tuxedo, thanked everyone in the room for attending the One Mic: Hip-Hop Culture Worldwide Festival. And this was just before he humbly spoke on how much he’s matured and how far his career has come.
Nas’ trip to D.C. also entailed an intellectual discussion with professor Michael Eric Dyson at Georgetown University that was recorded for mass consumption. See that here.
Illmatic turns 20-years-old on April 19. Peep the photos from Nas’ early soiree on the following pages.
