Los Angeles rap group Cali Swag District lost another member. MTV reports that JayAre (born Cahron Childs) died on Friday (June 6).
The cause of death is said to be the rapper’s long, uphill battle with sickle cell anemia. JayAre was hospitalized Thursday night for an unknown cause, where he later went into cardiac arrest and died.
Official confirmation came via his longtime partner in rhyme Smoove Da General. “Sickle cell took my brother away from me today…with that being said I’m proud to know that with that disease he made the best of his life,” he wrote on Twitter.
Sadly, the loss of the young rapper is second tragedy to sweep the Cali Swag District collective. Back in 2011, group member M-Bone was the victim of a drive-by shooting, which led to his untimely demise.
