The ex-Governor of Illinois that came under fire for allegedly trying to sell President Obama’s former Senate seat, is asking a Federal Judge to subpoena the President so he can testify at his trial and help clear his name.

Prosecutors for Rod Blagojevich filed a plea to subpoena President Obama as a witness for his June 3 trial.

The ousted governor’s legal team believes that Obama’s testimony would help because “only Blagojevich and Obama know the details that could prove the former governor’s innocence.”

By providing that testimony in a courtroom, Blagojevich believes he can clear his name.

There are no allegations in the court papers of any wrongdoing by The President.

Mind you however that Blagojevich is the same man who said he was, quote: “Blacker than Obama.”

Blagojevich is charged with scheming to misuse his power as governor to fill a vacant U.S. Senate seat left by President Obama in 2008.

Prosecutors believe he not only tried to sell or trade The President’s former seat but he also illegally pressured potential donors for campaign contributions.

The impeached Governor’s brother, Robert Blagojevich is also charged with helping him.
