On Saturday (august 16) at New Orleans’ The Maison, Red Bull Music Academy presented “The Mind of Mannie Fresh,” a first-ever tribute to the career and legend of the famed record producer.
The unprecedented occasion centered Mannie Fresh in a showcase of performances from artists who influenced his creativity and artists who cite him as a personal influence, alike. Guest appearances included Trouble Funk, a 15 piece go-go band from Washington, DC; Drumma Boy, a one of today’s go-to beatmakers; and New York Incorporated, Mannie’s original rap crew.
