In a strange twist, NBC anchor Brian Williams was suspended six months without pay for lying about his role during a helicopter episode in Iraq. It marked the rare time when a father and daughter were ethered on Twitter.

So yeah, the news is fake. People have stretched the truth further than Williams did about being under siege in Iraq. For further proof, hit the jump and check out the fibs of these 11 people with worse lies than Brian Williams tried to pull off.

The truth shall set you free (or allow us to laugh at your expense).

Mr. Cee

Nobody cares what Mr. Cee does behind closed doors or in his whip on dark side streets. It only became an issue when he repeatedly denied engaging in sexual congress with a transsexual, and said transsexual produced very credible evidence that the act most likely happened. And there were police reports.

Rick Ross

Rick Ross

Before he came clean about being a correctional officer, Rick Ross told people an obvious picture of him in uniform was just something Photoshopped by haters. The devil is a lie, indeed.

R. Kelly

R. Kelly

The father of one of the underage women who alleged R. Kelly macked her mysteriously got an instrumental credit on one of his albums. There’s also the matter of a marriage license that popped up in August of 1994.

Birdman

Birdman

Maybe Bryan and Ronald Williams really do have oil money. But the fact that none of the oil companies in the area Birdman listed have ever heard of Bronald Oil & Gas, LLC is a bad sign. It’s also worth noting the business is listed in Miami Beach, Florida, and Birdman covered up his Bronald oil rig tattoo. We’re not saying he lied, but…

Lil' Kim

Lil Kim

When Kim rhymed, “Luger by the thigh for you / Right hand high for you,” on “I Can Love You,” she meant it. Kim ended up serving nine months of a 366 day sentence for after being knocked on three counts of perjury in relation to the trial for the 2001 shooting outside of Hot 97.

Soulja Boy

Soulja Boy

He didn’t necessarily start the rumor that he bought a $55 million Gulfstream private jet, but Soulja Boy wasn’t really trying to defuse the story either. When 99 Jamz personality Felisha Monet asked Soulja Boy about the rumored jet, he just laughed it off and said people would have to see for themselves. A day after the rumors started, his reps were shutting down the story.

Akon

Akon

Konvict Music? Not according to TheSmokingGun. The website put Akon on blast for allegedly faking his gangster past. Ultimately Akon shrugged it off, as one can do when making ridiculous amounts of money.

Tim Dog

In arguably his worst lapse of judgment since naming a song “F**k Compton,” Tim Dog allegedly defrauded multiple women out of thousands of dollars. The situation got so read, Tim Dog ended up the subject of a 2014 Dateline profile entitled “The Perfect Catch.”

Roxanne Shante

Roxanne Shante

We all got the feel good story of 2009 when OG Roxanne Shante told the New York Daily News she got Warner Bros. to pay for her Ph.D. A month later, she released an apology letter saying it was a fabrication and that the full story would emerge at a later time.
