Twitter came out in droves to support third-year UVA student Martese Johnson, a reported victim of police brutality.
The honor student was arrested early Wednesday morning, amid St. Patrick’s Day festivities, for having a fake I.D. Johnson was said to be cooperative with Alcohol and Beverage Control police. But somewhere along the lines, he was forced to the ground, causing a laceration on his head that needed 10 stitches.
News of the young man’s arrest went viral after an email blast, including photographic evidence of his condition, circulated campus, and soon after, the Internets. In turn, the #JusticeForMartese hashtag is being used as a web beacon for supporters.
More details of the incident should arrive in the coming days. Until then, see what Johnson’s supporters are saying after the jump.
