In a Hip-Hop Universe now far, far away, tight lyrics and fresh bars were the tools of worthy MCs. Flash forward to today, and social media, and pettiness has also become an ingredient.
Mind you, not all modern rappers participate in grade school shenanigans. But those that do—whether it be a silly rap beef or good old-fashioned trolling—are often rewarded for their antics in the currency of page views, retweets and Stan adoration.
Here are the game’s 10 pettiest rappers, starting with…
10. Lil B
The Based God has been too willy nilly with the dispersal of his “curse” lately. Also, he dressed like a church lady on ESPN.

9. Tyler, The Creator
Though super talented, the foul-mouthed de factor leader of Odd Future’s lack of a filter often leads to extreme pettiness.
8. Azealia Banks
Give Banks a listen and you’ll find out she has legit talent, but constant Twitter tirades rub many the wrong way.
7. Funkmaster Flex
Flex ain’t a rapper but remember when he was riding against Jay Z and Life + Times? Yeah. Now, there is even a petition to get him outta here.
6. Joe Budden
Jumpoff is always good for an unsolicited and controversial opinion, the latest drawing the ire of Meek Mill. Also, we’re petty for pointing out that vest.
5. The Game
For all the good the Game does, he stays winding up in some petty nonsense.
4. Tyga
Remember when the basically through Drake under the bus for no real reason? The Compton rapper stays in the struggle, usually due to his own f-ckery.
3. Nicki Minaj
The way she constantly seems to bring up her ex-boyfriend, Safaree Samuels, is she really over him? Homie was basically the boyfriend in secret for years, yet she is the one spilling all the tea.
2. 50 Cent
Fif is quick to clown another artist when they’re down. Now the joke’s on him as he claimed in court that his entire wealthy rapper lifestyle is a façade. But the judge still told him to give Rick Ross’ baby mama millions.
1. Meek Mill
Goes without saying. After throwing Wale under the bus last year for not tweeting about his album, Meek went Hamburger Helper on Twitter, messing up Drake’s day. Drizzy’s get back has been epic, so far.
