Serato Pyro is the first consumer product developed and released by the minds behind DJ and musician audio software company, Serato. The iOS music app will blend music found in a user’s collection across a variety of platforms into a seamless mix.

Serato made the worldwide release of the Serato Pyro app official with an announcement Thursday (Feb. 11), highlighting some of the features of the highly-anticipated product. Combining the technology that’s made Serato a leading playing in DJ and music production, the Pyro will work in conjunction with other established music apps to bring users a unique experience.

From Serato’s press team:

The global release of Serato Pyro also brings an integration with Spotify, enabling Premium account holders to search for and play music from Spotifyā€™s catalogue of over 30 million songs and even mix them with the music stored on their device.

ā€œWe created Pyro so that everyone can experience their music, beautifully mixed,ā€ said A.J. Bertenshaw, co-founder and CEO, Serato. “Almost two decades ago, Serato changed the professional audio industry forever, and our software has been revolutionizing the industry ever since. Now, with Serato Pyro, weā€™re ready to mix it up again and change the way music lovers everywhere listen to music.ā€

The powerful Serato algorithms inside Pyro allow it to break down each song, finding every beat, then blending them smoothly so itā€™s hard to tell where one song ends and the next one begins. Serato Pyro actually changes the speed of the incoming song to match the one currently playing for an unbelievably smooth listening experience. If the tempos of the two songs are too far apart, Pyro uses an old DJ trick called the ā€œecho outā€ to make a smooth transition.

Pyro doesnā€™t just play through an existing playlist; rather each music session is created on-the-fly, built from existing playlists and searches on the whim of the user at the time. It is easy to rearrange and edit the upcoming songs while the music is playing, so there is never any need to prepare before the party starts.

Along with personal playlists and the use of Spotify’s recommendation engine and The Echo Nest, there will also be curated tracklists from DJ Jazzy Jeff, Fool’s Gold Record boss A-Trak, Diplo’s Mad Decent roster, DJ Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak brand, and veteran Hip-Hop band, The Roots.

The Pyro app can be downloaded for free by following this link. And as a bonus, Pyro’s launch will be announced at the 10th annual Roots Grammy Jam in Hollywood tonight. Hit the following pages for more images.
