Chicago rapper King Yella tried to bring some peace to the streets, but got rewarded with a gunshot wound to the arm.
King Yella has been one of the more outspoken Chicago artists when it comes to the violence that has been ravaging the city. He’s even gone as far to say that the local police and government are the reasons behind the escalating crime rates, not the gangs.
In an effort to create some unity in the streets King Yella started putting out messages on social media urging people to stop calling Chicago “Chiraq” and pushing his #nomoreviolence hashtag.
Earlier this week he put out a call for a #BlackLivesMatter video shoot, inviting everyone in the community to come out. Unfortunately, not everybody that came, came in peace.
During the video shoot, Yella was hit by bullets in a drive-by.

The Grio is reporting that members of the Black Disciples gang are on Twitter taking credit for shooting up the video shoot. Yella was in the arm, with another bullet grazing him on his side.
