In a music industry where the loudest people in the room get the most attention, Pharrell Williams is as soft-spoken and as humble as they come.
During his interview on The Breakfast Club, Skateboard P reaffirmed that very notion when the man who probably still needs ID to buy alcohol spoke on his incredibly successful career.
Sitting down with two of the morning show trio (DJ Envy was MIA), the producer of the upcoming film Hidden Figures speaks on his biggest beef with the music industry, why thugs should not hang around him, and his feelings on why Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election.
Here are the 9 things we learned about Pharrell on The Breakfast Club.
1. Model Tips
Pharrell is a big fan of exfoliating. It’s something he picked up from all the models he’s been around. Seriously, son does not age.
2. Music Beef
Pharrell’s big beef with the music industry is record labels “owning” an artist’s masters. He’s proud to say that any artist that signed to him will own their masters. Applaud this man.
3. Weird As Ever
Pharrell states he’s always been “weird” but refuses to acknowledge that he’s a trend setter for today’s youth.
4. Hillary Clinton
He thinks that gender bias played a part in Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaign. He also feels the (fake) news and social media played a part in her failure as well.
5. Hope For The Future
P does see hope for the future feeling that millennials and women will end up saving America from another shifty candidate come next election season.
6. On The Bright Side Of The Next 4 Years…
He feels some of the good things that will come out of the next four years of a Trump presidency is that it will galvanize the people and lead to some amazing artistry expressions.
7. To Soft For Prison Bars
Pharrell would “100%” drop dime on a fool if his freedom was on the line. This is why he says “don’t do it around me. I’m tellin’!” He is keeping it real straight out the gate if anything.
8. Chad
Even though he’s not as in the forefront as he was before, Chad does still collaborate with Pharrell on music.
9. I’m No Leader
He doesn’t like to be called the “leader” of N.E.R.D. He considers himself an “advisor.”
