Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless may be the most recognizable mainstream sports talk show hosts out, but Michael Smith and Jemele Hill have quietly established themselves as the culture’s favorite sports talk show duo with the success of His & Hers (formerly known as Numbers Never Lie) for a hot minute now.
Come February the duo will be taking over Sports Center but today the His & Hers co-hosts dropped by The Breakfast Club to do what they do best – talk sports.
Chopping it up with the AM trio, Jemele and Michael get into keeping true to themselves even against the advice of producers, loving the hate they get on social media, and the rumors of a romance behind the scenes.
Here’s the 9 things we learned from Jemele Hill and Michael Smith on The Breakfast Club.

1. Before His & Hers
They had been wanting their own show for years but the heads at ESPN thought they were too much alike for their own show. But their podcast showcased just how good their chemistry was and eventually they were granted their own show on ESPN2.
2. Superbowl Picks
Michael Smith’s pre-season pick for the Superbowl was Packers vs. Jets. Right now he has Atlanta taking it while Jemele believes the Patriots will win it.
3. Keepin’ It Real
ESPN never had a problem with their culture references but their were some producers who discouraged it in the beginning. Luckily for us they ignored such advice.
4. Floyd Mayweather & Trump
Jemele and Michael give Floyd Mayweather no credit for attending Trump’s inauguration. Then again they don’t mess with him either way.
5. Slip-Ups On Air
Michael Smith caught two strikes for cursing on the air. Both times it was for using the word “sh*t.” People tend to forget their show is live without any tape-delay.
6. Hi Haters
They consider the hate they get from social media “flattering” simply because it means the haters are watching.
7. Dez Bryant
Dez Bryant once took issue with Jemele Hill’s opinion on his play and voiced as much when they met. She said he was “gracious” about it though.
8. No Hookup Here
Contrary to what people may believe, Jemele and Michael refute any rumor that they’re an item. Michael’s been married for 12 years with 3 kids.
9. 2016-17 NBA Champs
Both Michael and Jemele have Golden State winning the NBA Championship this year.
