Amada’s Seales’ road to success has been as interesting as it’s been long. The former MTV2 VJ has gone from being “famous and broke” to being finally being simply famous.
Today (Aug. 9), the actress stopped by The Breakfast Club and had a grand old time spilling all kinds of tea relating to her old beef with Marsha Ambrosius, getting fired from a few jobs thanks to Jay-Z, and why she dropped “Diva” from her name.
Here are the 10 things we learned from Amanda Seales on The Breakfast Club.

1. No Diva Here
Amanda got rid of “Diva” because she turned 30 and “it just felt stupid.” Not to mention Green Lantern would always get on her for that name and people had a preconceived notion that her name meant she was a “b*tch.”
2. Angela Yee’s The Plug
Angela Yee herself is the reason that Amanda Seales joined Floetry after making the connection.
3. Marsha Ambrosis Beef
Her beef with Marsha Ambrosius was that Marsha didn’t attempt to endear fans to Amanda after Natalie Stewart left the group. She feels that Marsha set her up for failure.
4. Sabotage
At the time Amanda says that she and the music director was “f*ckin’” and he would tell her all the shady things that Marsha was doing behind the scenes to sabotage her. Tea. Spilt. She thinks Marsha wanted her to quit in order to finish the tour as a solo act.
5. Dummer Boy
The only reason she didn’t leave was because the drummer convinced her that leaving would show she was “weak.” So she finished the tour and worked things out with Marsha.
6. Jay-Z
She didn’t know anything about the rumors that she got fired from MTV2 because she asked Jay-Z for his number to do an interview. According to her when she was interviewing Jay for his Fade To Black joint, she showed Jay she had an original copy of Reasonable Doubt. The next day she got a call from her boss saying “You know what you did with Jay-Z was very inappropriate.” Then a month later she was fired.
7. Jay-Z Strikes Again
Later on when she was at Sirius XM she ran into Jay-Z in the lobby just hanging out and got a spontaneous interview out of Hov. That one cost her that job as well.
8. Caitlyn Jenner
When she met Caitlyn Jenner she says she was saying that she was working with Republicans to get things right, but when she shut her down with truths about Donald Trump’s administration, Jenner said she didn’t want to talk about it anymore because “the conversation was too hostile.”
9. Caitlyn’s Influence?
Amanda adds that when she told Caitlyn that “America hasn’t treated you the same way it treats Black people,” Jenner simply scoffed at the notion. She adds that Caitlyn Jenner is “not an influencer. All she’s influencing you is to watch.”
10. Issa Rae
When she auditioned for Issa Rae’s Insecure, Issa texted her with white handclap emojis to let her know she got the role. That’s so Rae.
