Last night on Love & Hip Hop: New York, we watched Miss Judy delve deeper into the crazy mother in law storyline. We also had a chance to meet Mariahlynn’s bae James R. and Anais’s arch nemesis/Navarro’s lady, Ashley. Lots to talk about, let’s begin.
So Judy and Yandy’s relationship is still on the path to destruction, what with the constant conduct reports to Mendeecees, who’s sitting in a prison cell. “When I look on Instagram, I see Yandy in prerogative [sic] clothes. Why you dress like that? What’s going on?”

Not sure why Miss Judy would be purposely filling her son’s head with doubts about his wife while he’s serving a chunk of time. She told him about Yandy and the lotion but didn’t mention that the setting was at a photo shoot. Also. Can someone let her know that the word she’s looking for is ‘provocative’ and not ‘prerogative’? The first time could have been a slip but she repeats the word throughout this episode.
Speaking of word counts, are we bringing ‘ham’ back? Three different characters used it on last night’s episode. Twice in the scene where Miss Judy arrives at Yandy’s skincare launch with a knit shawl for her to cover up with.
Before she walks over, Yandy, Juju and Jonathan (K Michelle’s bestie) discuss her most recent antics: “She went ham on you?” “She went ham on everything!” The term was done before Watch the Throne, though. Let’s leave it there.
Anais is capturing more hearts than just ours though. On last night’s episode, she finally meets Rich Dollaz, frat brother to Navarro, and he seems to underestimate her charms. She flirts heavily, naturally, but Rich seems to think that it’ll be the same type of scenario as it’s been in the past with him and these other young women. When actually, it may be the other way around.
“There’s the old Richie D that would tap anything then there’s the new Richie D that’s tryna watch what he does. Anais is tapping into this old Creep Squad Richie D,” he says with a smirk. Anais doesn’t seem like the type to be crying over you though, Richie D. Just saying.
DJ Self has Safaree swing by Dreamdoll’s performance rehearsal to see if he would be open to coming on as a part of the development team since he’s had “so much success with plenty of female rappers.”
But, as always, Safaree is on some other vibe. Promptly after Self reminds him that tunnel vision is key, he proceeds to invite Dreamdoll out on a date stating that he “looked her up” after their first meeting at Remy’s party. Damn social media. Their first outing is cute, he takes her to a trapeze class and they kiss but not before he mentions that his mom is going to look at her and see “another female rapper.”

Which makes us wonder, how long are they gonna sub Nicki on this show? Although she is a part of his past… And exactly how intimidating is the paperwork from her legal team?
Mariahlynn is in love. But her man James R. is super odd. Very nice to look at, up and coming artist as well, but he has a few insecurities. For one thing, he feels that because of his personal relationship with Mariah and the fact that it’s flourishing, Self ought to fall back. But how is this possible when the woman is signed to Gwinin Entertainment? He invited himself onstage at her single release event, grabbed the microphone from her hand and thanked the crowd for coming out and supporting his “baby girl’s record.” Self cuts his mic, because what boyfriend does this type of thing? Let her have her moment. Also, he refers to himself in the third person relatively often. Which, just… Ew. Girl, run.

Possibly the most entertaining scene of the evening was our first look at Ashley and Anais together in a room. Side note: Ashley does the same stiff-necked, hand talk thing like Miss Nikki Baby. Dreadful.
Navarro told Ashley to cancel a meeting he had set with the singer because he was headed out of town but Ashley had some things to get off her chest apparently. Earlier in the episode, Navarro says that Anais had sent him some bikini shots and that’s what upset his girlfriend. But when Ashley spoke with her sister the story turned into “naked pictures” and “4 AM phone calls.” We don’t know for sure, but Ashley is clearly jealous of this woman and laying it on thick but Anais could care less, which is actually pretty hilarious. In the conference room, Ashley goes off, asking a bunch of questions and receiving one word answers from Anais. This frustrates her.
“I call [Navarro] for my checks,” Anais says flippantly. “What checks? You broke ass bitch!,” Ashley snarls. She’s the type of angry that hinders thought at this point, because had she thought about what she was saying, she would realize that it makes her man Navarro, ol’ girl’s manager, look bad. But she mad though, so whatever we guess.
Next week, the madness continues and we’ll be here every step of the way.
