People love a good scare and no rapper loves a good scare like Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul.
Since dropping the ’92 mixtape Portrait of a Serial Killer, the Memphis rapper/producer has provided plenty of bloodcurdling soundscapes for Three 6 Mafia through the years using samples pulled from the very horror movies that he stayed up countless nights watching growing up.
Hip-Hop Wired sat down with the horrocore rapper and horror movie buff and he revealed his top five scary flicks of all time…
(5) Saw (2004)
“They don’t make good scary movies anymore. But I gotta give these guys their credit. That is the best scary movie that came out lately, to me. It was such a clever idea. I would have given it #1, but it can’t beat out the classics. Saw is definitely in my top.”
(4) Pieces (1982)
“Its about a dude whose mom died, and he is so in love with his her that he goes out and kills people and uses their parts to recreate her. So if a broad has the similar tits and arms as his mom’s he kills her and sews the parts together. He sews together a whole body and put one of his mom’s old dresses on it.”
(3)Tourist Trap (1979)
“I don’t like horror movies where people have special powers but I’m going to let this movie slide. It’s about a dude who owns a wax museum out in the woods. He owns a service station too. He tricks people that stop at the gas station into visiting the museum. He has powers to make the wax people come to life. He puts on this mask and wig and runs through there killing people with this crazy looking ^ss suit on. It’s good.”
(2)Friday The 13th: Part II(1981)
“That was Jason’s debut. That was before the ski mask. That’s when he had the scary ^ss mask that looked like a pillowcase with one eyehole in it. He was scary as a m^therf^cker then. The scariest part of that movie was the end when he jumped through the window. [The actress] was just sitting there rubbing the cat and they were fittin to lay down and f^ck or something and he come jumping through the window in slow motion. They caught it at all different angles and he was looking f^cked up in the face. Plus I like that one because it had a lot of hot chicks in it.”
(1) The Texas Chain Saw Massacre(1974)
“It was based off a true story. I like true stuff. I hate Shyte like Freddy Krueger. Aint nobody fittin to come kill you in no f^cking dream. I also like the way it was shot. Even though it was old school, it was shot real cheap looking and low budget. That gave it even more of a scarier feel, because it was so dark. The lead girl, she acted her ^ss off. I will never forget when I was young and saw the original commercial. It showed a part at the end where he was chasing her through the trees, and he was so close to her that he could have threw the chain saw and killed her. It’s just the way they shot it. That big ol’ dude with that chain saw and that apron on. That Shyte was crazy.”
