Judge Judy might be the most famous TV judge in the land of television law, but Judge Faith Jenkins is steadily becoming a household name herself. The assistant district attorney turned TV judge has seen her popularity continuously rise for the past few years and today the Louisiana native stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about the law and her TV career.
Sitting down with the morning trio, the good judge talks about how she got her start on TV, her thoughts on OJ Simpson, and almost becoming Miss America.
Here are the 7 things we learned from Judge Faith Jenkins on The Breakfast Club.

1. Court’s In Session
Faith got her start on TV as a legal analyst for news networks and once she appeared on Al Sharpton and Bill O’Reilly’s shows during the George Zimmerman trial, she was approached by network execs to have her own court show. Apparently they felt the legal analyst was able to appeal to all kinds of audiences. They were right.
2. Public Defenders
The judge feels that public defenders get a bad rap. She says it isn’t so much that they’re bad at their job, but that they are most of they’re understaffed, underpaid, and overworked. The unholy trinity that’s sent many men and women to long bids for small things.
3. George Zimmerman
Judge Faith sees how jurors let George Zimmerman walk due to the bias and fears that a young Black kid in a hoodie brings to the table. Now we have a menace walking the streets everyday.
4. OJ Simpson
The good judge thinks that OJ did that sh*t. She does admit that at the time he was found innocent she did think she was innocent. I think it’s safe to say we all did back then.
5. Blessing in Disguise
Faith says that she initially had no interest in being a judge, but when she was offered the gig she took it as a sign from God that it was a path made just for her. Good call.
6. Cray Case
The craziest case she ever took on was when a man sued a prostitute for not having sex with him even after he paid her. Naturally that was an illegal transaction so she threw the case out. We’re surprised both parties even showed up to court for this kind of hearing.
7. Miss America
She was actually a runner-up in a Miss America competition. Ms. Hawaii took home the title that year. Though she’s taken it in stride, Jenkins admits that she’s still a bit salty about the whole thing and feels like she should’ve won.
