While everyone loves to celebrate St. Patrick’s day with drinking, parade going, and partying all night, these celebrities may have more to celebrate than the rest of us.
Whether it’s half, a quarter, or 1/16, these celebrities have some Irish blood in them and will be celebrating it tonight.
While some on the list may be obvious, many will have you raise an eyebrow once you find out they possess the luck of the Irish.

The Singer/actress, has a Venezuelan/African American father, and an Irish mother.
Robert De Niro
His mother is of German, French and Dutch ancestry. And while his dad is in fact Italian, he’s also part Irish.

Actress, quoted as saying, “I’m Puerto Rican, Black, Cuban, Irish and Native American.”
Salli Richardson
Actress, is the daughter of African American, Cherokee mother and Italian-Irish father.
Samantha Mumba
Singer and actress, she is half Irish and half African.
Vin Diesel
Actor, he doesn’t like to get too specific about his background. He’s Italian and a lot of other things. One of his fan clubs says,
“His father is black. His mother is Irish, and he’s also got some Dominican, Mexican, German and Italian thrown in.”
Leona Lewis
Singer, she was born to Afro-Caribbean Guyanese father, and an Irish mother.
Alicia Keys
She’s black, Italian, Scottish, and a teensy bit Irish.
Henry Louis Gates Jr.
During a PBS series on African-American ancestry, Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. learned he was a descendant of an Irish immigrant and a slave girl.
Barack Obama
Much is made of the 44th President’s heritage, very little is mentioned about the fact that he is part Irish. Birthers like to focus on Obama’s Kenyan roots and it’s well known that he was born in Hawaii. But his Kansas born mother Stanley Ann Dunham has a bit of the Irish in her blood.
