Group Reports Over 100 Raped During Congo Attacks
The international medical aid group Medicins Sans Frontieres is reporting over 100 rapes took place during the recent attacks in the Congo.
The group says the rapes happened between June 10 and 12 in Fizi territory in South Kivu province.
No suspects have been apprehended for the rapes.
MSF is working with the Congolese heath department to find out exactly what happened.
Several renegade African groups use rape as a form of intimidation.
This particular section of Africa has been at civil war for some time since Rwanda’s 1994 genocide spread across into the Congo.
