Here’s a little something for longtime Hip-Hop stans and fashion connoisseurs alike. The minds behind streetwear mainstay Stussy tipped their hats to legends via a collaboration with DJ and producer 45 King, Far East crate diggers K.O.D.P., and BBP.
Drake may be the face of his OVO clique, but today, we see an ill collaboration by group affiliate P-Reign of Reps and OG streetwear brand Stussy.
Two of streetwear’s powerhouse brands in A Bathing Ape (BAPE) and Stussy banded together to create the aptly coined “Ill Collaboration” collection. As if the title wasn’t mean enough, the two fashion staples reached out to a few young guys spearheading their own movements to appear in the lookbook.
Over the weekend, Stussy released a Yo! MTV Raps-inspired capsule collection featuring 10 iconic photos of MCs from that era. If that wasn’t ill enough, the streetwear brand returns today with a two-part documentary that places a scope on the iconic television series.
Tomorrow (Feb. 7) marks the seventh anniversary of producer/DJ/lyricist James “J Dilla” Yancey’s untimely passing. This makes February a gift and a curse for Hip-Hop enthusiasts, because while they’re forced to celebrate the death of another artist gone too soon, they’re also guaranteed to receive a few special projects that commemorate the Detroit native’s legacy.
